Gallifrey One 2013 Diary: Thursday
Gallifrey One for those of you who don’t know is one of the biggest Doctor Who conventions in the US. It’s held in Los Angeles during President’s Day weekend. This was my first Gallifrey One ever, and I loved every minute of it. Each day I made sure to jot down and photograph the best parts of my experience.
The first event of the con is the line to pick up your badges. While we were waiting, the remote control Dalek came out to play:
Thursday night is the unofficial pre party known as Lobbycon. Everyone hangs out in the hotel lobby until the small hours of the morning. Lobbycon for me was all about seeing old friends and meeting online friends for the first time. For those friends I have never seen or heard on Skype, the first impression was quite surreal.
Cosplay is a huge part of Gally, and some people didn’t wait until Friday to start wearing costumes.:
